@hjertnes Well, we also have an impressive Afghan community now, not sure about the numbers.
The reaction was different, yes. Ukraine is closer, and your point might have also played a part. But we did welcome a lot of refugees from Afghanistan, and from Syria.
Adding to that, even before this whole mess started, we had a huge Ukrainian community in the country already.
@maique Wasn't really about Portugal specifically. I've just seen that people seem more willing to help when it's close and white people…
@hjertnes I can’t really speak about other countries (and maybe not even about my own), and I believe you’re right to a certain extent. But I do remember Germany’s train stations full of refugees when they were not white as well, and the sad example of Hungary and the barbed wire 😔
