I don’t understand people who would ruin their own website with popups thrown in my face the minute I start reading which are impossible to dismiss. If this is the way you treat me when I read your content, what makes you think I’d be interested in doing business with you?
@Cheri Yeah. I mean, I can sort of understand those that are trying to get regular readers to subscribe via email, and although I think there are better ways to achieve this than throwing popups over the content, if it's done near the end of the post I'm not so annoyed by it. But the site I visited this morning immediately threw one up before I got through the first sentence, and hitting close did nothing. That, I cannot stand, and I closed the page immediately as well.
@lmika Yeah, even when the popups are dimissable they annoy the crap out of me. Especially on mobile, because the "X" is inevitably at the top-right of the popup so I have to actually put my phone down or something to be able to reach it 😭 So obnoxious.
