Ugh. Amazon is Merging Createspace Into KDP Print

Unfortunately, we’re going to have to live it, because Amazon has made it clear that soon there will be nothing more left of Createspace than there is of Lexcycle, Booksurge, Mobipocket, or the others Amazon has consumed.

@cheri Uh oh.. We are actually just getting ready to publish with creatspace. Wondering if this is good/bad/indifferent for us. Any suggestions for alternatives (just in case)

@Burk @cheri uh oh! I’ll have to read up on that. We use CreateSpace for my wife’s elementary workbooks.

@EddieHinkle @Burke If you’re just getting started, it’s probably best to go to KDP print immediately, rather than try to use a system being eliminated. They are functionally similar.

KDP print is likely an okay replacement for Createspace and it looks like they have a decent migration process for existing books. Another option is Ingram Spark. I haven’t used them, but they’re growing in popularity.

The real loss here is the Createspace staff. They offered excellent service and accountability. Amazon’s reputation is poor on those fronts, which is why many authors are bracing for impact. Hopefully the transition is smooth!

@cheri Ohhh okay. Thankfully I haven’t had to deal with the staff at CreateSpace so hopefully I won’t notice the difference with KDP 🙂
