Got off to a bit of a rough start with the Rivian. Software glitches galore starting the day after we took delivery. Thankfully, they were able to push an update to the car and now it’s working great.

@cleverdevil oh no! glad to hear it resolved. The last 9 months of the R1S has been a delight for us!

@Burk yeah it took a bit of shine off the big purchase, but now that things are working properly, it’s amazing.

Except for the lack of CarPlay. And the Alexa integration.

@cleverdevil I thought I would care about the Car Play stuff, but it hasn't been an issue. The maps are very good (at least for me here) and with the "Send to car" from your phone it's been all good. (I never do phone calls or messaging in the car so that could be an issue for those who do for sure.) I don't have anything Amazon, so a non-alexa voice thingy would be very welcome for a few controls of various things. 😃

Now for the important stuff, what color did you choose!? 😃

@Burk yeah the nav has been good, but I’m so used to hopping in the car and saying “Siri take me home” or “take me to kid’s school” and having it just work. The Alexa thing is pretty lousy… surprisingly worse than Siri. I disabled it after giving it a good try. I also take a fair number of calls and field texts from family, which is much more inconvenient now.

I’m thinking of giving one of those dash mounted CarPlay screens a try. They’re cheap (like 80 bucks) and some of them aren’t completely fugly 😂

We got a Forest Green R1S with Ocean Coast interior and black 22” wheels. It’s so nice!
