@maique @dandycat They have communicated, although only through their Twitter account for support (âcastrosupportâ) and from a very quick look there doesnât seem to be any sort of announcement in a more reliable place. Itâs quite odd, since this behaviour definitely would not encourage me to trust them to make good decisions whilst taking my subscription.
@dandycat I hung in there for a while with Castro. Its way of managing podcasts just worked for me. Then as you say there were bugs. I received a couple of responses and then it just appeared to go quiet. I currently use Airshow, a new offering from Feedbin. It just works for me.
@dandycat Iâve actually been really enjoying Castamatic. It isnât full of features but does what it does well.
@maique I was even able to set up Overcast such that it nearly works the same way as Castro. That helped make the transition much easier. Itâs more fiddly, but it gets the job done well.
@SimonWoods @maique The lack of communication from the Castro developers has been especially worrying because itâs so unprecedented from them. Theyâve always been so open about their work, even after one of their cofounders left for other work. If this radio silence wasnât so unusual I might not feel the way I do, but it feels like all signs are pointing to bad news for the app.
@crossingthethreshold Airshow looks very streamlined and nice to use. That it also comes from such a reliable company bodes well for its future. Thanks for mentioning it!
@SgtApple Castamatic looks like it could be great for a lot of people. It appears to me to resemble Overcast in a lot of ways, so moving to that one seems like it could be relatively simple. Thanks for mentioning a new app!
I loved Castro and kind of just âaccidentallyâ decided to try Overcast again ⌠havenât looked back since ⌠it was nothing to do with everything I am seeing in this thread - but have to say - the comments provide more reasons to not return.
@JohnPhilpin I completely agree with your sentiments about Overcastâfor the most part, thereâs no âperfectâ podcast app out there. However, the syncing with Overcast canât be beat. It sure is nice to not have to worry about how an app will function, right?
