The only people who want Schultz are “Never Trump” Republicans who think that Donald Trump is an aberration of the GOP rather than the logical conclusion of decades of GOP wretchedness.
@petebrown I've never met a real independent. I have family who claim to be independent, who have never voted for anyone who wasn't a Republican.
@chris I think the actual constituency is smaller than that: it is solely made up of the consultants he is paying.
@chris I recall reading some polling data a year or two ago showing that of the 1/3ish of voters who self-identify as “Independent," most consistently vote for one or the other of the major parties, leaving only a small sliver that can actually be considered independent.
