I’m off for yet another Covid booster this afternoon as I’m classed as ‘vulnerable’.
@SamHawken Really? I’m considered ‘vulnerable’ and I have little clue why. I have a myriad of pre-existing conditions, but which of them, or which mix of them, makes me ‘vulnerable’ I’m not sure.
@BenSouthwood @SamHawken COVID is the worst vasculothrombic virus medical researchers have ever seen. Anyone with vascular conditions — especially hypertension and diabetes — are considered highly vulnerable, along with cancer patients, the elderly, and anyone immuno-compromised. I’m not sure what other conditions qualify, but those were the ones always talked about the most.
@pimoore I have something called neurofibromatosis, type 1. As far as I can research, there’s no added risk with that. Several years ago I had issues with my lungs, but no longer need support for that. Anyway I’m just grateful to have another level of protection.
@BenSouthwood I think I’ve actually heard of that before, but I suspect even past lung issues would be a risk factor. My wife has asthma, and that was definitely a risk factor — though once they found the truth of the virus it was no longer a severe comorbidity. Her hypertension became the biggest risk at that point.
I’m happy for anyone who gets protection from this thing, regardless of risk.
@pimoore It’s one of the more common ‘rare’ genetic disorders. Gillian Anderson was an ambassador, she lost her brother to it (NF1).
