‘Her time has come’: did Mondrian owe his success to a cross-dressing lesbian artist who lived in a Cornish cove?

Great article in The Guardian by Joanna Moorhead about Marlow (Marjorie Jewel) Moss. I really should visit the exhibition in Kunstmuseum, based on a recently found suitcase with sketches soon.

Piet Mondrian found fame, fortune and glory with his grid-like paintings lit with basic colours. But did many of his ideas come from Marlow Moss? Our writer celebrates an extraordinary British talent who died in obscurity

@Miraz I’m very curious about her work. I love Mondrian’s paintings and learned quite a bit about his life during my studies, but I didn’t know about her (as most of us don’t, for obvious reasons). I’ll keep you posted after visiting the exhibition 🙂

@ArnoldHoogerwerf Sounds good. I’ve heard of Mondrian, of course, but had never heard of her.

@Miraz We went yesterday. It was way smaller than I expected (and the museum didn’t really showcase it) but it ended up worth going.
