@odd @JohnPhilpin I feel like we're late to the game. Is there any country left where there are no far-right, alt-right, new-whatever idiots in the government? Actually, I was surprised that they didn't get even more votes yesterday. "Alternative für Deutschland" are actual Nazis. They are observed by the constitution protection in some cases. I don't know why people vote for them. People don't learn. It makes me sad 😔

@pimoore @hutaffe @odd @JohnPhilpin Unfortunately, the right-wing populist, anti-immigrant Swiss People's Party has had seats in the 7-seat Swiss "presidency" for ages and has been growing in influence recently. They aren't as bad as some others, but they aren't great.

@pimoore @hutaffe @odd @JohnPhilpin My grasp of Swiss politics isn't what I'd like it to be, so someone Swiss might nuance this some, but they struck me (even as the center-right American I then was) as surprisingly anti-immigrant for a mainstream party when I lived there in the late 2000s. 😩

@spgreenhalgh @pimoore @odd @JohnPhilpin I‘m not following closely enough, but that’s also how it seems to us, a few kilometers away from there… it’s really not the funniest place for people from certain areas of the world. Also very popular „main stream media“ is pretty far right. But, we’re all much worse than them. I feel ashamed to live in Germany right now and I fear the future of myself and my family to be honest. But in this world right now, I wouldn’t know where else to go.
