Do people still play bridge or pinochle? Not sure why the thought came into my brain. Maybe, because I don’t know anyone who does and haven’t seen references to either in the last few decades.

@Archimage some of my friends used to play pinochle a lot back in college, around 2008-09. They all grew up in Michigan, and they told me it’s a common game in their families and friend groups.

@pgkr Cool. Yeah, I remember it being big in the 70s when I was in college. Never hear about it nowadays.

@geofftaylor Cool! I don’t know of anyone playing, which is why I asked. I tried learning in the 70s but then I discovered I don’t like or understand the purpose of betting.

@Archimage They do, our largest national paper even have bridge “messages” in it. I used to want to learn how to play bridge, but that was mostly because I was a fan of Agatha Christie books.

@odd Good to know. Bridge here, was big in the 60/70s and I remember a newspaper column with that and chess. But, the papers here aren’t worth buying now, so I’ve lost touch.

@Archimage I have two brothers who play bridge regularly. I would pick it up again if I could find a group to play with in person. Card games online make me depressed.
