@Archimage We do have representative democracies, where one (or none) of the parties represent your general view. It’s still flawed, but it keeps us from having a string of referendums.

@odd You missed my point, or I missed yours. “Representative” parties are a way to consolidate power. Parties, by definition have more power than an individual. Also, the added layers of “internal party politics” is problematic.

@Archimage Yes, I may have missed your point. If internet identification could be 100% safe, internet referendums could be put up, and for those having voting rights that don’t have internet, (there are more than we know), they could do it in the county offices or something. Switzerland is a Federal assembly-independent directorial republic with elements of a semi-direct democracy, and have referendums on a lot of issues.

@odd internet is a great goal. But I have/work with it. It’s not objective. Just look at all the spam/false/marketing stuff. As long as a country has control of the infrastructure it will be biased. Back in my day, I remember selling on the internet was disallowed.
