People keep saying the USA should send M-1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. The M-1 tank weighs almost 20 tons more than the Russian T-72 tank. At almost 70 tons for the M-1 Abrams, Ukraine would have to replace most of it’s bridges first.

@bradenslen They should send the Seinfeld cast to Kremlin, in an attempt to lighten up the minds of the people there.

@odd I guess Seinfeld loses something in translation. It’s not even funny in English.

@bradenslen Not to mention that takes months with logistics involved. Amazon doesn’t deliver tanks in 1-2 days.

@pratik You are right. Logistics is the key and expense. M-1 tanks, F-16 fighters require a huge logistical baggage train. Training pilots and techs takes a long time and you can't just yank half the Ukraine air force to the USA for months of training in the middle of a war.

Spare parts: everything costs like it's solid gold. This is American equipment, where the Pentagon spends millions on just one toilet seat.

We need to send them Soviet type fighting equipment that shares as many parts with what they already have as we can. If we send US made stuff it should be relatively low tech like military trucks, Hummers, etc which are always useful and which nobody ever has enough of.
