The navigation bar is getting a bit crowded now, but I’ve added a dedicated section for my daily  Arcade reviews to my site. Micro.Blog sites don’t include any search capabilities1 so even after 6 reviews it’s starting to get difficult to find the reviews. Perhaps having a dedicated s... www.thedent.net

@andynicolaides I think my template (Marfa) has search, and @Miraz's custom.micro.blog resources talks about adapting it to other designs here: custom.micro.blog/2019/06/1...

@andynicolaides It's good that you have a dedicated page anyway. It looks like it's based on categories, so the feed is also included. Even when search becomes available, I think it's important to provide as many different ways for people to read your stuff as possible.

@dgreene196 thanks for this. I did add that, but it just seemed to add a DuckDuckGo search box that didn’t actually search my site content. Seemed a bit ... odd.

@simonwoods yeah that’s right, it is just a category. It’s definitely looking crowded up the top, but yeah, you’re right, not much point me trying to write a review each day if no one can find them.

@andynicolaides It ought to be a DDG search with the site: function for your site attached, so whilst it's not a fully-crawled search (as far as I understand it) it's a quicker route than opening up search manually. Agree that fully baked site search would be a great addition should it ever be implemented.

@andynicolaides I've gone back and forth on navigation myself, especially for @til; in the end I've gone with the core links at the top, then meta stuff at the bottom.

(for my personal site set-up is totally my POV and changes depending on what I want in the moment)

@andynicolaides If your site is new, it will take awhile for DuckDuckGo to index it, but eventually they will.

@bradenslen oh thanks, I did include it a long time ago and removed it quickly. Maybe I’ll add it again and see if it’s any better.

@andynicolaides It’s going to take time for any free third party crawler to index your blog. Google will be the fastest while Bing and DDG will take longer.

@andynicolaides I struggle with the nav limitations, too. A child menu might be nice, but I think it’s an existential design question to balance ease of navigation and clear navigation.

@chet to be fair, for me at least, I have so few readers that I doubt it really matters all that much haha.
