It also would not surprise me if the final form were the result of a bunch of decisions made by separate groups (Engagement: “We need a newsletter sign-up!” Legal: “We need a cookie consent banner!” Finance: “Ads, ads, ads! We’ve got bills to pay!”) with no-one seeing the whole picture…
