Scene: Living room, in front of our big travel map.

Kiddo: When I was a little baby, I lived in Canada.

(N.B. She has not yet visited Canada.)

Me: Oh? Where did you live? Montreal? (shakes head) Vancouver? (nods)

Kiddo: Yup. I was a little baby, and I lived in a coffee shop.

@vasta Ha! I don’t doubt it. I’m actually hoping to take her to Canada in the next couple years; some dear friends of ours are moving from Abidjan to Toronto in September, and we’d love to come up to visit them.

@schuth @vasta That sounds like a great children’s book (not the Vancouver real estate market angle, though).

Also, very cool map; for some years when I was in HS/college (and we hosted exchange students), we used to have a US and a world map on alternate sides of the bedroom hallway. I do not have nearly enough maps hanging these days, though 😞🗺️

@vasta Whenever we do make our visit — we’re likely to wait until they’re settled — you can be absolutely certain I will get in touch. If our schedules align and we can arrange a rendezvous, it would be a delight.
