@monday where do I begin? Two recently added games in our library have become favorites already... Scythe and Star Wars: Rebellion. And a few longtime favorites we haven't tired of are Wingspan, Parks, and The Crew.

@monday ohhh! Well the only one that qualifies is DnD? I know, I know, me and everyone else. I'm also looking for other RPGs. I have old DnD posts I need to move to my MB one.

@monday Not a huge tabletop gamer, but we play some games. Lately we've liked Ravine and Codenames (because we could even play that with my parents!).

@monday we get a new game every year for the holidays, but always come back to Catan or Ticket to Ride. That said, we’ve been really enjoying Scythe and Nations when we have enough free hours to play them 😂.

@monday this subject is basically what I’ve dubbed my mid-life crisis, so I feel I should weigh in here!

For single player experience, I enjoy Living Card Games (LCG) I’m fond of Lord of the Rings, but also have a huge collection of Marvel Champions too. Both are gorgeous.

For the family, I would say Ark Nova is perfect. Stunning board, huge depth and not too hard for kids.

The Star Wars geek in me suggests Outer Rim, which even my 13 year old enjoys playing (and we have to fight to get him to play).

I would also suggest avoiding any of the ‘Rising’ games. They look great, but are impossibly hard. I’ve never won, and it really puts you off.

@monday My faves are Burning Wheel, Dominion Rules, and whatever indie RPG has my fancy lately. I also love cooperative board/card games and trick-taking card games.

I continue to work on my card-based post-apocalyptic science-fantasy RPG.

@monday I remember liking the Manhattan version of Scotland Yard (UPDATE: It's called NY Chase), RISK, but favorites are simple card games.

@monday currently Tiny Epic Galaxies and Potion Explosion are seeing our table the most. Both are easy to set up and play. We also really like Parks, Eldritch Horror (for when we want something to last hours), and recently we picked up Tiny Epic Dungeons.

@monday Ticket to Ride is my current favorite. Parcheesi will forever be my classic favorite.

@sgtstretch Tiny Epic Dungeons is a good one. We’ve played all the Tiny Epics I think! Dinos is my favorite out of them.

@monday Hard to nail down a favorite. War Chest, Furnace, Dominion, maybe? Depends what I'm in the mood for. My wife and I go to Geekway to the West, a board game convention in St. Louis every year, and I try to blog about what we play. Here's my most recent writeup.

@monday I forgot to mention my favorite tabletop game: Blokus. It was designed and first published by French people, so it must be pronounced bloh-KOOS.

@monday FATE is great! I use the game’s narrative philosophy in other TTRPGs. I love Classic Traveller. Currently I’m running Mothership and having a blast as everyone at the table wants to explore themes of cosmic horror, body horror, AI superintelligence, free will and determinism, The Great Filter, and The Dark Forrest Theory.

@toddgrotenhuis Terry, who is co-host of Mage: The Podcast loves Burning Wheel.

@josephaleo It's certainly not for everyone, but it is modern-but-crunchy, opinionated, great for campaign play, extensible, and has a lot of smart design choices (task vs. intent, character-driven plot, reward cycle, etc.) that are everpresent in many modern games.

@toddgrotenhuis I’m going to have to look into Burning Wheel. There are a lot of neat ideas I’d love to incorporate to the games I run. My rule is not to purchase any game materials unless I’m actually going to use it. This definitely fits the bill.

@josephaleo I have both ran and played (and for long campaigns), but am doing neither right now.

Local group is doing 5E and online group is probably going to do Deadlands next.

@johnchandler Galaxies and now Dungeons are the only ones I’ve had experience with. I do need to try Dungeons again though. I tried a solo game a bit after we got it, and I was so tired I ended up picking it up after 20 minutes or so.
