@cmccullough you’re probably going to get a tonne of recommendations, but I’d like to pile on if that’s ok.
I’m using an Ionos VPS for my site, and the performance is great. But, the important thing is, they offer a free Plesk license with all their VPS, so it’s basically the same as shared hosting, but with VPS performance. I’ve been with them for years, and they’re great. I’m using their “S” VPS, so $5/month for you.

@cmccullough I think it's a myth that shared hosting automatically sucks. I've been using ICDSoft for over a decade now, it's fast, really nice interface, volume discounts, ultra fast and effective support.
Not sure what country you're in but on the Canadian side I'm giving FullHost and CanSpace a try.
@cmccullough Of all the tech cloud services I use for a ton of different purposes.... ICDSoft is the one I am most happy with. I have dozens of sites hosted with them for over a decade & I don't have a single complaint.
@cmccullough They only support 1 site as a distinct, isolated "app" split from the others inside the account. But I've been using htaccess mod_rewrite rules to serve several small accounts in one hosting account, since the beginning.
You won't get things like separate backups though.
Sorry I haven't used their VPS - I find it expensive. I've used VPSes from Digital Ocean & FullHost(Canadian) provisioned with RunCloud.
@cmccullough RunCloud has been my solution to not pay for 'managed' VPSes ... and I've been very happy with it.
But you won't get email/webmail with a VPS. The shared hosting at ICDSoft includes very robust email which is nice to get away from Gmail and the rest.
@cmccullough If your sites are bigger and you want them as distinct apps, it still might be worth it to use ICDSoft because they have volume discounts if you have several hosting accounts. It get's quite reasonable once you have a few.
