@Lxtruong @shoq @taylorlorenz All that's been said is that Eugen *might* re-consider. Might. Nothing is official.

And honestly, I hope Mastodon does loss users to other Fediverse software. In fact, that would be preferable.

The Fediverse shouldn't be based on one app.

There we are in complete agreement. It's not merely a knee-jerk conservative orthodoxy that genuine competition tends to improve most products. It will be true here, too.

@atomicpoet @Lxtruong @taylorlorenz @shoq 100% (even if that app is open source and built on an open protocol).

@atomicpoet @Lxtruong @shoq @taylorlorenz Quote posts do not seem to be a priority with #Mastodon right now.

#MissKey however does support quote posts and features a more vibrant design.

That is the beauty of the #fediverse honestly.

If a platform does not fit your needs, you can choose another one that does without sacrificing the ability to communicate (as they all support #ActivityPub which is awesome!).

@darnell

Friendica and Pleroma can do it as well.

Don't forget that even if your instance doesn't do quote posts, many apps can make one (they aren't hard to do on your own TBH though; just follow #webmention convention and drop a "in reply to {link URL}" or "--quoting {URL}" and do your thing. )

@darnell @atomicpoet @Lxtruong @shoq @taylorlorenz i have only tried it in Calckey, but one problem is that a quote made in Calckey looks ugly and not like a quote for readers that are on Mastodon
