Went back to a mall-style shopping centre today for the first time since the pandemic began and omg it was overwhelming. Individual stores enforced density limits but in the corridors it was packed. At least we got the couple of gifts we wanted to buy, and a late lunch in a not-very-bus... www.jayeless.net

@jayeless The last time I was in a mall was December of 2019, and I honestly don’t miss them one bit. Likely I’d feel the same way after going in one now, and would regret the experience. I guess if this pandemic has done one “positive” thing, it’s really pushed me to shop local when feasible.

@pimoore Yeah, I was no fan of malls even before the pandemic – they've always been crowded, labyrinthine, and kind of overwhelming… it's just hard to beat the density of different stores when you have some last-minute gift-buying to do 🙁

@jayeless @pimoore I was at a mall this week, and although it’s not a favorite thing to do, when it rains or snows, it’s nice to not have to go to several local and remote stores to get the things you want. The corridors were under construction, so a lot of workers and customers there. 😰

@odd @jayeless That’s a good point, certainly makes Christmas shopping easier too if you can grab everything in one place, though for me at least that seems to be a rarity.
