@jayeless Heh. AFL Eve and Melbourne Cup? Surely you jest! Our Anzac Day goes to Monday, so day off tomorrow. Instead of Australia Day of course we have Waitangi Day on 06 February which ummm reflects the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 which gave Māori authority over everything they held dear. Also Anniversary Day — on various dates depending where you live. Labour Day's in October. We are also to have Matariki in ummm June — based on the Māori calendar, it marks the new year.

@Miraz Hahaha, not joking at all about Melbourne Cup or AFL Eve, flimsy excuses for days off though they may seem 🤣 AFL Eve is actually a new one; the first time it was observed, Viv showed up to work anyway because he didn't know it was a public holiday now, and had to be sent home after a couple of hours...

I think Labour Day might also be in October in NSW and/or Queensland (I know they both get a day off, and in one state it's Labour Day; in the other it might be Queen's Birthday?). Other than that, of course, the NZ-specific holidays aren't really known here. But it's interesting to hear about them nonetheless ☺️
