So a Rio Tinto chairman and a board director are to resign after the company willfully destroyed 46,000-year-old heritage sites in WA’s Pilbara region (see article). TBH a lot more heads need to roll than just that. Any system in which unquantifiably valuable heritage can be destroyed... www.jayeless.net

@jayeless A big Rio Tinto project here in Arizona that was threatening a cultural site was recently put on hold (after being fast-tracked during the previous administration). I guess it's not surpsing, that the company has no qualms about doing this to heritage sites anywhere in the world.

@alans I'm glad it was put on hold! The threat to the site in Arizona was reported on here as well – it seemed really dishonest that at the same time they were trying to tell us they were sorry for destroying the caves in WA, they were still pushing ahead with destroying heritage in the US. Of course, a hold doesn't mean they've been stopped for good 😔 I hope they can be, though.
