It’s so great to see updates to the Dialog app. It‘s a great app - very well-designed and beautiful to scroll through. And with ability to post finally available, makes it a great option on Android. I was seriously considering attempting to write an app for Android. May not now.

@amit It's so nice to finally have a MB app on my Android phone.

@bradenslen @amit Not only great to have it but also encouraging; it's a big public check in favour of the platform. Also helps that it has happened so soon after the news that Gluon isn't dead.

@simonwoods @bradenslen @amit I agree Simon, it's a big deal and not just for my own convenience. For a long time my biggest concern has been whether Micro.blog can really be viable for Manton & Jean with it remaining an Apple niche site, especially now, with a lot of the Apple folks encouraging the others to set up Blot sites, and the Blot owner using Micro.blog as the support site for Blot!! That one realllllly amazed me!

@simonwoods @amit I was just thinking about how important it is to Micro.blog having an app for Android. Having 2, with Gluon, is even better. MB needs to grow out of it's iOS starting niche.

@simonwoods I completely agree. Android is too important a platform to ignore. There are many folks, especially early adopters, who love the platform. It is important for micro.blog to provide a genuinely first class experience there too. It was disheartening to see so many attempts at this dying down.

@Ron I hear you, Ron. I agree that for any new service, including Micro.blog, it is important to grow out of its niches. I think for most users without a blog, one hosted with micro.blog would be simplest option. However, people already with a blog outside also form a significant chunk. And most have found a way to support the micro.blog platform. @simonwoods @bradenslen

@amit @bradenslen @simonwoods @Ron I’m so glad to hear these votes of confidence in an Android app for Micro.blog. I’ve been wanting to invite a very dear friend to check Micro.blog out for months, but was worried the gap in features would diminish the appeal.

@schuth You are right to be worried about the gap. I'm not a big mobile user, but a lot of people, I'm told, use mobile first and that makes Android the elephant in the room. We need to use our cunning to lure in more open source Android developers, get them to love us and MB and want to build apps for MB. /opens bag of Reese's Pieces starts lay out trail/ :-)

@bradenslen @amit @Ron @schuth It'll be interesting to see when Micro.blog gets an official Android app just how much influenced it is by the existing third-party efforts. This happened with Twitter and without third-party interpretations of the platform it definitely would not have become the influential presence we now know it to be.

@bradenslen @amit @schuth And now... it is even better. :)

@simonwoods I just checked my phone to see if it auto-updated and it has, so I brought Dialog up and was stunned at how good it looks. Us Android users are getting out of stearage. :-)

@bradenslen Knowing that I can much more easily microblog on the fly is very nice, that's for sure.
