This morning I had to take the bus to go run errands and pick up some fresh produce at my favourite Halle. When I got to my stop I made to get out the bus but found my way blocked by a determine young woman who wanted to get on the bus. Get on the bus without paying. At first I was confused and asked her... alexink.micro.blog

@alexink Sorry to see that happened to you. Maybe others on the bus just didn't realise what was going on?

@alexink I despise bullies so much. I feel your frustration watching the bus go away after being subjected to such an uncivilized behavior. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

@alexink Bravo for doing the right thing, but I wouldn’t worry about those that didn’t help. Miraz may be right in that maybe they didn’t know what was going on, and even if they did, not everyone has the courage to do the right thing at the right time. Control what you can control and keep doing the right thing.

@Miraz It could well be the case, as it did happen kind of fast. But I think there was more to it than that, sad to say.

@estebantxo Thank you for your kind words. I'm still kind of speechless at the arogant behaviour of this individual that they thought it okay to do this. Such is life.

@mariovillalobos Thank you for your kind words. And yes, I can see that now, having talked with my OH. It really did happen quite fast, and yes, I know these days we all have to think twice before getting involved.

@alexink I think you made the right choice about not confronting her. No point getting hurt unnecessarily. I would have expected the driver to say something, at least, although I know violence seems to be a daily problem for them around the world, and they are probably under instructions not to take a risk like that.

Unfortunately, the other woman, like most bullies, will be encouraged by getting away with that sort of behaviour. I hope you’re feeling better today.

@alexink may I ask how you knew she wasn’t going to pay? Over here (Germany) there would be no way to tell. She might have a ticket already or have a monthly or even yearly ticket so she could just get on public transport without having to pay anything for that specific ride.

@alexink the reason I ask is because from my (German) point of view, your account actually read like you were being the aggressor blocking her entry. From context I feel like there must be a cultural difference.

@pkboi Thanks, after talking about it all yesterday with the OH, I feel much better today. And yeah, no one wants to get in the middle of a fight, I know I certainly didn't. It just sickens me that people do this and, sadly, seem to be getting away with it.

@AlexKucera I was getting off the back of the bus at one of two exits, the far one. No one getting on at the back is going to pay and anyway, she went directly to a seat and sat down. She didn't make her way to the front to pay or show a pass, nothing.

Here you are supposed to show your pass (ticket/phone) to the driver when getting on, to confirm you're entitled to ride the bus.

@AlexKucera Sorry, I should have added context, that everyone get's on at the front entrance and shows their ticket/pass/phone to the drive on entry.

Our buses have two EXITS one in the middle of the bus, and one at the back. They are big caterpillar buses. The exits are just that, exits not to be used to board the bus. There are even notices to say so. I hope that gives clarity.

@alexink understood. Makes more sense now. I figured it must have been something like that.

@alexink That makes her behaviour even worse!
