My attraction to Roam is unusual in that I don’t love it because it offers so many cool things to play with (although it does that, too), but instead because I don’t waste time looking for clever new ways to use it. I just use it and it works great that way.

@jack How are you using Roam? It intrigues me but I can't think of a use for it in my own work!

@MitchWagner I use it for most things lately. CRM, Project management, topic journals, technical logs, you name it. I don't use ToDos much. I live on the Daily Notes pages and occasionally move things around later. I add a lot of links because it pays dividends.

@jack You tempt me, sir!

Do you use backlinks much? The diagram thingie of notes and their relationship?

I’m all in on DEVONthink but also I’m the living Distracted Boyfriend Meme wrt productivity software.

@MitchWagner Backlinks are the key. Or one of them anyway. I don't see much use for the graph view but who knows where that'll lead. DEVONthink is where I put most of my files, still.

@jack How do you split your information and work between ROAM and DevonThink?

Forgive me if this was asked and answered before.

@jack I find this discussion so intriguing that I brought it up on the DevonThink user forum and Mac Power Users

@MitchWagner Almost all files (PDFs, Images, saved web pages) go in DEVONthink. Roam isn't great at managing files yet. I don't use DT for notes at all. If I write it, it goes in Roam. Hope that makes sense.

@jack It does indeed make sense and thank you.
