This New Zealand native bird, the Huia, Heteralocha acutirostris, is one that can only be seen mounted in glass cases, like this pair on loan from Te Papa Tongarewa.

Two stuffed birds, black, with yellow cheek wattles and long curved yellow beaks.

This pair was part of an excellent ‘Korori, Korora’ exhibition at Foxton:

A dynamic exhibition on Aotearoa’s native birds, featuring diverse artistic mediums

@jeremybakernz Yup, worth a visit. It includes some pictures by kids, sculpture, 3D painted art, fabric art, great photos and a couple of other stuffed birds too: Kiwi and Ruru, from memory. Also plates from a first edition drawings of birds from umm the 1800s. There was a movie I didn't watch too.
