@matpacker Unfortunately it’s over 2 decades late. I wish we'd done this when Australia did it after the Port Arthur massacre. Better late than never, though. And glad they got this done quickly.

@yorrike yeh, true, but at least they’ve done it now. Our current issue is the stockpiling of guns, there’s some loophole in the registration system that has allowed some to register 200+ guns, all legally purchased and registered. Some of these people are in City areas, one is apparently 2 suburbs away from me in the Newcastle area. Who the hell needs 200+ guns, even if you are a sport shooter, I can’t imagine that there would remotely be that many disciplines of sport shooting!

@matpacker Collectors. They’ll have a room full of them, all racked and on display. Like someone who owns 20 classic cars and has a warehouse on his farm to house them all. I understand the mind of a collector. But even so, owning an arsenal isn’t something a civilised society should just accept as normal. Unlike a classic car collection, a gun collection is a stockpile of tools designed to kill. I’d say there should be a collectors license, where you can own any gun you like, but the barrels have to be filled with resin before they’re released to you from customs. That way you still have a collection, but they’re for display purposes only.

@yorrike ahh, didn’t even consider collectors, makes sense...and yes, 100% agree with the ‘collectors license’ and the barrel full of resin.
