@manton That's great! By the way, there seems to be an error in the javascript snippet. The src attribute is truncated.

@manton oh my goodness! Yes! This looks very cool

@carlesbellver Thanks! For the truncation do you mean the ".Permalink" tag, or something else I'm not seeing? The permalink is a Hugo variable. For anyone not using Hugo, it should just be the full URL to your blog post.

@manton The src attribute in the javascript tag was empty when I first visited the help page, but it’s ok now. 👍🏻

@simonwoods It is a great release! Well done @manton And thanks for bringing in off MB webmentions too. Unfortunately, I don't think it's working for me. Many months ago I added Intensedebate and another JS to that template and it looks like those have blocked it. Fudge.

I'll wait a bit longer. Sometimes it takes awhile for changes to show up.

@manton Well, it looks ok in my iPhone, but this is what I see in my Mac with Safari 13.0.5. The src attibute is not empty, but it lacks the ".Permalink" bit and the closing quote. <img src="https://blog.carlesbellver.net/uploads/2020/a7790037a5.png" width="400" height="152" alt="" />

@carlesbellver Thanks, that is strange… I can't reproduce it but I'll take another look.

@bix @bradenslen It brings in Webmentions if they are part of the Micro.blog conversation, which is limited to mentions from external blogs that also have a domain name (so it excludes forwarded tweets and some other URLs).

@manton Nice! Another item to check off my list.

@manton This is great. And incredibly easy to implement and style. I do have 2 requests for the native/default implementation. First, slightly larger avatars. Second, a defined class for comments by the blog’s author (don’t even know if this is possible).

@bix Nope, those are fine. What I mean is URLs that require more than the domain name. For example, twitter.com/someone or example.com/some/path/. Micro.blog is about 1 person, 1 domain name.

@bix Yes, the first reply on this post was sent via Webmention.

@bix Just whatever the author sends. I think the display can be fixed in CSS to match Micro.blog replies that are wrapped in <p> tags.

@bix @manton I’m not quite getting this either. Are replies still limited to mb users or can comments come from non-mb users via webmentions?

@bix that’s how I read it as well. Ironically I have just moved my blog Wordpress because I want to enable webmentions etc from blogs outside of the mb sphere. I’m sure at some point @manton will provide a help page.

@bix Aaron is posting to his own blog and sending a Webmention to Micro.blog, which adds his blog post into the conversation. Because he also has a Micro.blog account, it matches up his username, but it would work even if he didn't have a Micro.blog account.

@strandlines Replies can come from external Webmentions even if the user doesn't have a Micro.blog account. (With some limitations, like they need a blog. It doesn't work with Brid.gy's tweet forwarding.)

@carlesbellver @manton Yes, I see this too on the help page. The line of JavaScript code snippet is missing {{ .Permalink }}" after url=.

@bix Yes, Micro.blog adds the username if it's not already in the reply text. There are other types of Webmentions but Micro.blog considers everything a reply.
