What Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram did to blogging — Spotify and Apple Podcasts are attempting to do to Podcasts.

Make it dead simple but put it in a silo and position themselves between the creator from the customer.

@renevanbelzen I think you are technically correct. But know one cares. That horse is out. If a user opens their podcast app and a Show is in it. It is a podcast to them. Just like people thread blog on Twitter. They use the tool. I think it all sucks. But your message is shouting into the abyss

@renevanbelzen what about all those that cross post their podcast to YouTube? That is helping blur the line from the technical definition to a podcast being an interview show.

@renevanbelzen I am not trying to be combative. But you stated rss + audio file= podcast. They might be try. But culture and language is changing that. 100% that podcasting is a great success and I hope it stays open.

@renevanbelzen I have friends who say they listen to podcasts. Yet if I ask them where or how they listen. Only use YouTube. I think that is horrible. But to them. They listen to podcasts. Regardless what industry peeps say.

@cdevroe tech's ability to suck in and commodity every 'indie' effort. More and more I imagine that before long only some sort of samizdat network will be worth pursuing. What will it be? In the extreme, printed material, hand delivered __ though I like to hope it doesn't come to that.

@renevanbelzen I'm with @terrygrier ... while you and I would define a podcast as an open RSS feed with audio enclosures, that might end up changing in popular culture because to listen to platform exclusive "podcasts” you'll need the app and that will be the norm. I think Apple's announcements last week will excellerate that.
