One of the coolest things I’ve found while using Ghost is the incredibly easy way to add photos hosted on Flickr.
/image URL, and it’s done.
Wish this was as easy to use on Micro.blog… 😊

@canion The whole editor has a great experience, but inserting photos like this, for someone who has thousands of them on Flickr, is priceless. No need to do the whole download/upload dance, and that’s amazing when I’m writing posts with a lot of them.
@maique I've had a pro Flicker account since 2007 but mostly it is underutilised because of the effort it takes to get a useful link out of it. I would love to make Flickr less of a shoebox and more of a linked library.
@maique that would be awesome! And would settle my decision on using Flickr full time for photos!
@de @pcora it is a very handy feature. In fact all the “/“ embeds over at Ghost work pretty well. I tried YouTube/Vimeo/Flickr/HTML so far, and it’s great.
@maique That sounds like a really good implementation. Would also like to see something like it on Micro.blog.
@maique Hmm. 🤔 It might be possible to add support for Flickr by developing a Micro.blog plug-in. What is the result on the actual page when you enter /image URL
? Can you provide an example?
@sod That would be awesome. I’m away from the laptop, but the result is simply having the photo show up. You get the direct URL for the photo, not the photo page URL, and, as soon as you input that URL and hit enter, the photo will show up, and you can then pick full width, or any of the other options for photos on Ghost. The only thing I found missing is that these embeds do not get included when the lightbox is showing. Not photos that have been uploaded to Ghost. I can get screenshots later in the day 😊
@manton if you do this, please make sure that it works with the links that the mobile Flickr app generates.
@manton That would be just fine. It’s just a quicker way to have the photo show up in the blog, without the whole download/upload bit.
