Quitting Twitter has been on my mind but there are people there I don’t want to lose touch with. I wish they would come to micro.blog. Instead I’ve created a private list called “Favourite People” and I’m being absolutely ruthless about who gets on it. Let’s see how it goes.

@stefp a recent podcast talked about a)putting everyone they currently follow onto lists, b) unfollowing everyone they don't know in person and c)turning off retweets. they said the timeline this created was much more delightful; now, i'm considering it!

@jw I couldn’t do b because I’ve only met a handful of people I follow but blocking retweets definitely improves things. I think Twitter can still be what you make of it whatever you think of the company.

@stefp yeah definitely!

i think i'm going to follow that plan, but with some exceptions for people I've followed for so long that I think of them as folks I "know”

@jw This is what I've done. So much better now.

@stefp I’ve been doing something similar for a while, and I have not missed the normal timeline.

@stefp Exactly what I did. In addition, I also get their updates in Feedbin. That way I do not even have to login to Twitter.

@muncman I don't know why I haven't done it before. Muting certain words makes it even better.

@amit I've just done that too. It's another good reason for choosing Feedbin.
