The responses on Twitter to The Verge’s redesign are like from a parallel universe. The tech punditry seems to love it. Meanwhile here I am finding the colour choices unreadable (white on black and blue on grey) and the lack of a visual hierarchy turns the front page into noise

@baldur I’ve only just seen it on an iPhone, and I don’t hate it, but it’s less readable than I’d like, and very messy.

@baldur The front page colour scheme is bad for my eyes but the individual article pages are fine.

@stefp Check out the comments popup. Lovely blue text on grey background 🙂

(Also, nothing's really aligned on the article pages: header, sidebar, metadata, etc.)

@baldur I see what you mean. That purple/blue is horrible.

@baldur I have no visual memory so I can’t be sure about this but I have the impression that it was even worse before!

@baldur No big deal as far as I’m concerned, anyway. I’ve been visiting The Verge a lot less since I realized a few months ago that I’m no longer interested in reading about tech. It doesn’t bother me to give it up completely.
