@Mattfinlayson Question: do you need Twitter/GitHub for authorization with webmention.io since Manton implemented IndieAuth support for Micro.blog accounts, even external blogs? // @amit
@smokey @Mattfinlayson the key is the below part
you’ll still be responsible for setting up posting, but having basic IndieAuth support can be useful if you want to connect your blog to tools that don’t need to post, like IndieWeb Ring or the IndieWeb.org wiki.
So it is still advisable to setup for IndieAuth for posting via micropub.
@amit I’m even more confused now. That quoted section is referring to posting to the blog via Micropub, I think. I didn’t think the webmention script was posting to the blogs but rather pulling data from webmention.io? In which case Micro.blog IndieAuth for external blogs would suffice for authentication, right? What am I missing? // @Mattfinlayson
@smokey Ah sorry, I misread the context. Yes, just for Webmentions, I think it should work fine. To be frank, it should work either way - micro.blog only replaces the IndieAuth provider (indieAuth.com in most cases).
But I hardly faced any issue with auth, so haven’t tried it out. It is one configuration you have to do if you host outside - didn’t matter then who the provider was.
