On the final Micro Monday of 2018, I recommend @macgenie, who keeps us happy not only as community manager but also as purveyor of fine guinea pig photos, great photos from her travels (Slovenia in 2019!), and wisdom from her varied career.

@smokey Aw, that is so sweet. Indeed, my guinea pigs are fine creatures.

@jenett Thanks, fixed! This is what happens when one drafts the post in the middle of the night when one can’t sleep but nevertheless is tired… :-P

@macgenie They are, and they have been mostly hiding for the holidays, no? (Like the introverts they are ;-) ) I think we’ve only seen them once since after the recovery from surgery?

At any rate, since you’re no longer a default follow, recommending you (and by extension Grace and Ada, and Jon, and all the many people you interact with over the year, at App Camps and Micro Meetups and conferences, seems like a good way to cap a year of Micro Monday recommendations). :-)

@macgenie P.S. Do we get a pin for doing all 52 Micro Mondays in a year? ;-) /cc @manton

@smokey (For the record, I was never a default follow, nor @manton. The only default follows are @help and yourself. Of course, I have no idea how many followers I have. 😇)

@smokey It would be quite an elite status!

@macgenie I was pretty sure when I joined and knew no-one, I was following 3 people immediately, myself, help, and you…but that was over a year ago, and my memory is no longer the steel trap it was in the “brain-local cache of all Camino bugs” days ;-)

@smokey As @macgenie said, only @help has been an automatic follow, but we used to be at the top of the old Discover section. (52 weeks of Micro Monday recommendations is incredible! Thanks for helping others find new people.)

@macgenie @manton Half-joking, but also half-serious; in our last big discussion about more pins early last year, I think many of us were advocating for more pins for “extended” accomplishments beyond 7 days straight of photos, 10 posts, and 30 days straight of posts, but that also wouldn’t encourage gamification and would respect desires of people to have social/tech-free weekends.

I like the 52 MM idea because you only need to do it once a week, so it’s not constantly demanding attention, but you still need to commit to it (maybe also have a monthly or 4-week version as a second goal after the initial MM pin) and it helps Discovery/community growth…. An idea for the hopper, at least :-)

@manton Oh, maybe that’s it, and I just started following people from there.

Always happy to help where I can; many thanks to you and @macgenie for a great year of (micro)blogging.
