Too many people like to talk about being into blogging and then do no blogging at all, choosing instead to just obsess over the meta commentary of blogging.

The technology is interesting but it’s not that interesting.

Say something or log off.

@simonwoods For me, those are my posts that show me as least decisive at best, self-contradictory at worst. But the angst has to go somewhere, and at least there is the benefit of producing something accurate?

@hjalm Yeah. I think I'm starting to realise a thing I already knew but was in denial about; I want to contribute to the web, and there are already lots of people dithering about the meta side of things. That stuff still has value, just not for me and I suspect also for a lot of other people who could be better spending their time.

@simonwoods I am with you. I’ve been inspired by the work of many, many others—including members of the Micro.Blog community. This thing we do can be very powerful.

@frostedechoes I like this idea a lot. I might steal it.

@simonwoods I need to ask. What is the ‘meta’ commentary? The term Meta, I don’t quite understand it I guess. Apologies in advance 🤗.

@Gabz No apologies needed! You can always ask me anything, k?

Meta, in this regard, is like all of the posts I was publishing about whether to have a Twitter account or not. Or whenever I have spoken about blogging itself, especially with regard to the tools, the technology.

To be exact (and therefore much better than in my original post), I am berating myself into focusing on the things I have already decided are important; truthfully, I do not currently find it important to think about my blogging tools, joining social networks, and so on. At least, not to the extent that I write (multiple!) full-length posts about it.

@frostedechoes That's a great way to do it. Giving the different elements of your site what amounts to their own specific spheres can be a big contribution towards clarity and focus. Better for you and the people who visit your site.
