@mikehaynes I would likely buy a Pixel Watch ASAP.

@mikehaynes @simonmumbles with Google’s efforts with Pixel 2 XL, a Pixel watch would make total sense. I doubt though if chip makers, especially Qualcomm are interested.

@mikehaynes @amit Since Fitbit appear to be grinding away at the lower end I hope Google sees an opportunity to tackle the mid-to-high end where Apple have seemingly found so much success. One of these devices with a virtual assistant that actually works would be sweet.

@simonmumbles I do not think Apple’s success with Watch can be attributed to the virtual assistant on there. It is health, fitness. And that one extra something for each - for some it might be notes, for others notifications.

@amit Oh sorry, I meant that a Pixel Watch would include the good virtual assistant as opposed to Siri which is, well... y'know.

@simonmumbles Sure. However, I feel even though a good Assistant might be necessary, it won’t be sufficient for the success of Pixel Watch.

@amit Also agreed on that -- Google's software already has plenty of non-assistant hooks via which a Pixel Watch could prove to be a breakthrough on another level for Android Wear.

@simonmumbles yeah, that is exactly why it’s existing to watch what Google has to offer.

@mikehaynes The Pixel brand doesn't really mean much in the real world, so I doubt that a rebranding of Android Wear and a Pixel watching is going to make a difference. What is intriguing, however, are the number of "real" watch brands like Fossil and Movado, who sell and continue releasing new Android Wear watches.

@mikehaynes I think the watch makers have seen themselves as most at risk by Apple, and Android Wear would be their only option.

@frankm @mikehaynes I'd be surprised if the Pixel brand didn't gain greater recognition sooner rather than later, mostly because it's connected intrinsically to Google. People say "Google that", not "Siri that" or "Apple that", whilst Chromebooks are gaining traction in homes via schools, Google Drive has also spread very much.

Pointing out to people, "Oh hey, this stuff works OK on non-Pixel devices but the best experience is with Pixel." could be quite the compelling argument.
