@modernlittleme Orange is in my top five, maybe top three colors. My current watch is orange and I have a handful of orange fountain pens.
@d0gc0w ... YES! I too have an orange watch, an orange wallet, and several orange pens... although none of them are fountain pens. I’m too fickle to go down that road!
@modernlittleme You know what... I thought the same thing about fountain pens and then a couple maybe three years ago something switched in me and went all down that rabbit hole. It's a little out of control now but I do enjoy them very much.
@modernlittleme My current favorite orange pen ( although it might be the least orange pen I have ) is my opus88. It's a nice mix of acrylic and ebonite. I'll share a pic in a minute...
@greghiggins Ha! I do have orange inks too but I don't limit the orange pens to orange inks. I was referring to the bodies of them being orange either in whole or part.

@modernlittleme Here's my take - you can spend anywhere from 3 dollars to over a 1000 on these things. But at the end of the day, you best writers fall into the 50 to 150 dollar range. Anything more than that doesn't really give you a better writing experience mechanically. Maybe nicer hardware and furniture on the pen right, but as far as writing nah. In fact you can get some 20 dollar pens that write as good as 200 dollar pens. It's kinda crazy.

@sergio\_101 People mention the LAMY all the time to me. I’ve written it off since my husband is always telling me to start there... but he’s never mentioned that it comes in turquoise! That’s my favorite color after orange!
@modernlittleme they make higher end pens, too. I have a studio 2000 that I keep at home. Go grab one and go nuts! I would also start looking at getting a converter and using bottled ink.

@modernlittleme you can't really go wrong with a pilot metropolitan or a lamy safari. Those are great starter pens. The japanese pens typicaly have finer nibs. An EF metropolitan is smaller than an EF safari for instance. If you want to go super cheap though, there are so many chinese knockoffs that write perfectly well and can be had for as little as 5 bucks. And then if you want to get into alternative nibs and nib mods, well that's currently where I am heading...
@modernlittleme I used to mod my own clothes with a sewing machine when I was in my 20's but that was a long time ago. And sadly I can't find a sewing machine emoji... we'll have to come up with a code.

@d0gc0w I have a 2000. But I only used it at home. The clip doesn’t seem like it could take the abuse of me dragging it all over the place.

@d0gc0w i don't really have a paper preference, cuz it takes me awhile to kill it.. but i really like rhodia.. i bought a few of the letter sized tablets.. and REALLY liked the combo of paper and pen..
@sergio\_101 Lots of ✒ folks are rhodia fans. I always had mixed results with them but understand that it's good paper. I like midori as a general brand of paper as well. // @modernlittleme
@modernlittleme when my son was in basic training, and a bunch of his battle buddies were not getting letters from home, i went through tons of these pads sending letters.. was so fun!

@modernlittleme it’s all about the Muji dot grid. Came out a year ago or something but it’s FP friendly and opens flat and is relatively priced
@d0gc0w the only other notebook maker I’d recommend for everything is Midori MD, damn those notebooks are great. Fine I’ll also recommend the Cafe Note from Nanami Paper

@modernlittleme yup came out not too long ago - hereSimilar in form factor to their amazing black notebooks, but with better paper and the best dot grid (super light but enough to see it and fades away from a distance).
@d0gc0w oh yes, loving this conversation. Still hunting for my perfect notebook. Claire Fontaine / Rhoda is nice but too smooth for me. Moleskine size/ format is great but paper is scheisse. Leuchtturm great but feels so formal. I really want something like a decomposition notebook but with fountain pen friendly paper.
@herself pen-wise, I'm a bit weird on Lamys. I have an old Safari with an awesome nib (red one) but it seems all the new pens have these stainless nibs that don't feel the same? Others on regular rotation are a Noodler's flex, Platinum Preppy converted to eyedropper tank, a vintage montblanc, and a Lamy 2000.
@herself i kinda agree with all this. My best paper option is the tomoe river stuff. So i stay with the travelers refill number 13 or the seven seas writers. My current planner has it too.
@herself helloooo. I did the pretty conversion too! Swoon! One of my two daily carries is the lamy 2k. Currently on it's second fill-up.
@d0gc0w I've heard so many good things about Tomoe paper. Really been meaning to try it out! Another lot who do good notebooks are Delfonics. Love their Rollbahn books, though the grid rule is a bit too small for my sloppy handwriting…

@herself You have to try the tomoe river. It's heaven. ALthough it does have it's naysayers. It's super thin, especially if you go with the 52 gsm which I prefer. The more I use it, the more everything else feels like cardstock. #slightexaggerationforeffect
