So I figure Apple will release a smaller version of the iPhone XR next year.

@mruncieman I wish they’d release one at a price point I’d be comfortable providing to one of my kids. Right now a used phone is pretty much my only price point. Apple has a pricing problem in China & similar countries so I’m holding out some hope for this.

@ronguest I think the closest they’ve ever come to doing something like that is with the iPhone SE at $400. The new iPads at $329 are a fantastic deal and great for kids (obviously not as phones though).

Honestly though, I think with the build quality on Apple devices and effort they’re putting into iOS 12 to make it perform well on older hardware, it’s never been better to buy a used iPhone.

@mruncieman Those are good points. Our high school daughter has an old iPad but she doesn’t take it to school - she uses her old iPhone for internet apps/searches. Even at home she prefers to do her homework on her iPhone. It seems other kids are the same around here.

@ronguest That’s interesting. I like my iPhone, but I don’t know if I could do that amount of work on it, especially if other devices are readily available.
