I got a 12.9” iPad on Saturday and I’m in love. I shouldn’t have downsized last year.

@Aleen me too! I did the exact same thing.

Got original 12.9

Switched to 10.5

Went back to new 12.9

This is the device for me!! 😀 🎉 ❤️

(my poor MacBook Pro) 😬

(side note: would anyone be mad if we just call it the 13?)

@Burk @Aleen same timeline here. They did a great job on the hardware with this iteration.

@Aleen @burk I went by an Apple Store today to compare the new Pros (I have the 9.7” Pro). I came away pretty convinced the 12.9” is the one for me when I upgrade. More screen than my MBP and weighs less so I should be ok with the weight when mobile. My 9.7” looks tiny now! 😞

@Burk I call it the 13" iPad in private groups 😊

@jack @Burk it feels like magic somehow. I can't describe it. More than the first iPad did, even.

@Burk @aleen @jack So what cables/dongles have you found to be essential with the new ones? And if you import photos from a camera what are you using? TIA

@ronguest So far I have a USB-C->USB-A for connecting a mechanical keyboard (silly, but still). Also a USB-C->SD Card reader for photo imports, although I'm not importing directly to the iPad (yet).

@ronguest @aleen Calling it the 12.9 is almost a bad thing as it makes it sound like it’s HUGE (the original 12.9 was pretty unwieldy). It used to be, but this new model feels so much smaller. It really is just a screen now! 😀

@Aleen @jack totally agree on magic. Much like the iPhone X where it felt like it was a couple gens ahead, this is maybe even more of that feeling to me.

@ronguest @aleen @jack I had a bunch of USB-C stuff that came from having a 2016 MBP. The only new one I purchased (it didn’t exist prior) was the Apple USB-C SD card reader.

USB-C Stuff I Use Most
- SD Card Reader
- 29W Power
- Digital AV
- 2m USB-C Cable

@Burk @ronguest @aleen @jack I'm using a Magic Keyboard and Studio Neat Canopy. I ordered a cloth sleeve from an Etsy seller. Grabbing a No. 2 Pencil tomorrow. Still looking for a lightweight, fold-flat keyboard stand.

@Burk @aleen @jack Thanks for the info. I’m sure I’ll want the SD Card cable. Not that I’ll use it that much but at times it is necessary when traveling. Is accessing photos on a an SD card any faster with that and the new iPads compare to the previous Pros?
