@Burk I have a new iMac on order and have yet to come up with a name for it. Current device names include Koala (NAS), TheBar (MBP), Panda (old iMac) and Wall-e (gaming PC). On the iOS side my iPad Pro is Sherlock and my iPhone X is Nick Charles (from the Thin Man).

@ronguest suggestions for name for your new iMac- Dragon or Sun Bear. Sadly I have no names for my computers and ios devices, I am currently trying to think of ones.

@helgeg I'd probably do that with our old iMac but I already have a NAS I use as a Linux box which suffices for me.

@Burk I used to name my computers after photographers and servers after cartoon characters, but I'd often forget which was which so now I name everything after what they are: e.g. "Jack's iMac", "Static Web Server" etc. Boring but less prone to confusion.

@Burk My computers have always been “Christopher’s _______”. Once upon a time I named my hard drives after aircraft, but I unfortunately stopped. But now that you’ve reminded me of it, I’m tempted to do it again.

@Burk This is fun. I use words from Middle Earth. I favour the Elvish names for their lush sounds. I take swords or precious stones for laptops and the names of horses for removable media (Asfaloth is my current active backup).
