@toddgrotenhuis Yes, I have started on several, but then my thoughts begins to wander, and my anxiety is playing tricks on me. Micro.Blog is a bite-sized thing I can handle. Maybe I ought to turn off my phone and try harder to read longer…

@odd I absolutely agree with @toddgrotenhuis. Whenever my attention span gets too short, I realize I need to return to books and just sit with them through the distractions.

@rcrackley I will make a wholeheartedly attempt to read for longer, and resist the temptation of checking my phone and my feelings too frequently.

@odd You may want the Bookly app ;)

@odd Good, we can be accountability partners. I need to do the same.

@rcrackley @odd this sounds good to me. I like the writing challenges I've seen people do (on Twitter, et al.) and wonder if we could have that but for reading. So, for example:

Somebody: "Time for today's reading challenge. Ready? Go!"

Same person +1 hour later: "Ok, challenge is done. I read 'X'. How did you do?"

@SimonWoods @rcrackley @odd A reading sprint! I love it!

@Archimage I suspect that defeats the purpose of checking my phone too often. Well, it might not, but you know how it is…

odd

@rcrackley That sounds good to me. Do you have an idea how we could do it?

@odd you can log your reading afrerwards. It also lets you keep a journal of what you read and set goals.

@SimonWoods Wouldn’t that be hard for people with completely different time zones? How about writing a message to another person about your progress for the day, and they do the same? @rcrackley

@KimberlyHirsh I think my zulu-time schedule isn’t the best fit for this, but a person to person accountability note I can do.

@odd I have a tracker in my bullet journal for each week. It's empty so far.

odd

@rcrackley I like it! You round off the reading time to the nearest 30m? Simple logging like this could maybe be a future feature of Bookshelves? @manton

@rcrackley It’s half past 9pm here now, and I don’t think I’ll read much tonight, but I’m going to really try tomorrow, borrowing your graph, and notifying you afterwards. Our weeks start on Mondays too, so that will be a difference in mine. What are you most excited to continue reading, or to start on?

@odd I'd like to finish The Hidden Palace. I'd also like to get through Radical Candor for work. Micro.blog bookshelves are pretty cool, but it can be embarrassing when you've had a book on there for too long.

Have a great night šŸŒ™!

@KimberlyHirsh That's the idea, anyway. Hopefully it will get me back into some better habits (especially with regards to screen time and sleep hygiene).

@SimonWoods I'm more thinking of a weekly tracker to ensure that enough reading was done during any given week.

@rcrackley I’ll have a look at those tomorrow. Yeah, I’ve had some under ā€œReadingā€ for over a year now! Have a good evening, and night when it comes! šŸŒ
