I’ve been watching Hinterland on Netflix, a crime drama set in Wales. At heart, it’s a show filled with sadness. I’ve rarely seen any characters smiling. But it’s given me a glimpse into the stark Welsh countryside and attempts at pronouncing words with no vowels. 📺

@pratik I will need to look into that it reminds me of the series Shetland which is set in the Shetland Island and being close to Scotland they also don’t smile. I think though they do use vowels in their words

@pratik @klandwehr I am a fan of both, Shetland a little more than Hinterland because the lead is slightly less tortured, and also I love the Shetland sergeant.

I’d love to see the Welsh version of Hinterland, aka Y Gwyll. (They film both in English and Welsh and create both versions.)
