@jean BTW @samgrover’s Mimi Uploader also has a Generate alt text with AI feature. Works fantastically and has made me use alt text more often. Even for screenshots

@kaa the latest one. Once you upload a photo, long-press to see the option. BTW there’s a Supporter option to support the paid feature.

@jean And, if you are a person who doesn’t object to using AI, I’ve found that Microsoft’s Copilot does a great job of writing alt text for you!

@KimberlyHirsh How far are we from the point where visually impaired people just have an AI image interpreter running on their browsers by default, on the assumption that it’s more helpful than most alt text anyhow? Does alt text then become obsolete?

@dwalbert It’s a reasonable question. I don’t know, but I will say that I almost never use the generated alt text unmodified.
