@vincent It sounded like one had to be ever so alert to make sure the phone is pointing directly at the sattelite, (the app helps you with that), but if you’re in a super stressful event, like having someone almost passing out at night on the top of a icy mountain, far from cell signals, can one really manage? They showed how big the antenna of a sattelite telephone is, and made it look silly compared to the iPhone, but I think I rather have an iPhone that were capable of acting as a sattelite phone too, with a detachable antenna, (if I were to go on a expedition in a far off place, that is, which is very unlikely).
