: twelvety.micro.blog@B_Banzai Dave, this was a heck of a post. I saw myself in many paragraphs. If you replace The Brain with Bullet Journaling, Zettelkasten, Tinderbox, and org-mode, those are just a few of the tools that I’ve been lured in and out of with no regard for my own intention. Even with software that’s supposedly optimized for serendipitous connections and insights, I’ve ended up remembering more about “what I believe” or “what I used to believe” in simple (sporadic) journal entries, whether they’re in plain text files, Day One, or even TiddlyWiki. I like where you’re going with the mapping along various dimensions in a Tinderbox map. That’s the kind of intention I need to keep in mine!

@jack Ha! Good point about Docker. It was a fun sandbox to play with, but it seems like not a good foundation to build a house on. I’m going with emacs-mac homebrew for now, then. Thanks!

@canion I do the same as @amit and just use the “+” icon. Most of the time my posts are really short and I just want them the be a flat list of sentences or paragraphs. I don’t want mine to look much like a proper outline with nesting, mainly because I want to make sure everything is visible to the reader (and me) without having to open any disclosure triangles.

I’d love a journal app with built-in limitations on the number of lines per day, the way Tot is limited in its total number of notes. Give me 10–12 lines/day and I’ll fit all the “this happened today” bullets in. Roam is great for notes, but it gives me almost too much freedom.
