It’s been 4 full days since I had my roommate lock me out of my phone. And so far so good! I’ve discovered that Siri on a locked iPhone has approximately the same amount of features as a dumb phone: calls, texts, alarm, music, and reminders. And if I need to do more, I can pull out my iPad.

On your website I saw that you’ve used the Light Phone & the Punkt MP02. Both of those have been on my radar for a bit as the “ideal” dumb phone, but I’m a little hesitant to splurge quite so much yet. Have you by chance found anything a bit cheaper in your dumbphone journeys? If so I would love to hear about it.

Just realized I haven’t posted in a few days. At the start of the week I decided I was using my iPhone way too much, so I asked my roommate to set a lock on it. Now I can only use it via Siri, so I can really only make calls. But that also means that I don’t use it as much, and so forget to post.

I’ve thought for a while that I was a verbal processor. But last night conversing with my roommate I realized that I’m actually an internal processor who requires the pressure of a conversation to focus his thoughts. So the way I think best is in a conversation that has tons of silent “dead space”

@velocykel Ooh, that sounds really cool. I love getting books from library sales, but nothing beats free :) I’ve been working in my school’s library for about a year now, and I have to come to, if not love, at least appreciate the LoC system.

At the moment I’m reading a lot of classics as part of school, so my shelves are filled with books in a very disorganized fashion. Just to try to get an idea of what I have, I’ve been building my own system with Logseq’s query functions (which is working really well so far, but I prob wouldn’t use it for more than a few hundred books. If it gets worse I’ll prob switch over to Airtable or similar). Actually organizing the books on the shelf will have to come soon, though.
