I am happy for him. The same can not be said for all indie developers. I still believe we should push the platform forward. As a developer myself I do not see the problem in keeping multiple code branches for a cross platform application if needed. But in this case I do not think it would even be required given your description of his application. If he needs support I, and other developers, will surely help him out.
