@mcg The one-time payment struck me as the biggest up-front commitment I could make to the developer of an app I’d already used for years. Whether or not it was a sustainable pricing tier or not was opaque to me on the customer end; presumably the dev wouldn’t offer it if it weren’t. I do wonder how many people sprung for the $45 up-front expense, as that seems pretty counter to the prevailing culture of iOS’ app marketplace.

@spratte I’m inclined to do the same. My only hesitation is that the dev said he removed it from the App Store, which tells me it won’t be patched if any upcoming iOS update breaks functionality for the app (or the widgets, which I particularly like).

@cygnoir I had been a Goodreads user for a long time, but the U/I (web and iOS app) is so clunky and slow that I finally threw up my hands. I tried Libib next, but the iOS app is pretty minimal and doesn’t get many updates. I finally settled on BookBuddy+, which feels like a long term solution.
