@jtr batteries seem to last 18-24 months in ours, but we still have an annual task to change out the batteries early just to avoid the dreaded beeps in the middle of the night. Highly recommend this strategy.

@numericcitizen I had that problem too, but realized I was set to post to a different blog than my default (on micro.blog). When I changed that back to the one that matched my domain, it worked. (I had forgotten that I had changed it last time I was on the web, as I usually only post via the MB app).

@manton we did the same with park stickers, but thereā€™s only so many places you can put them. I also originally started collecting park patches until I realized there was no easy way to eventually display them, so I switched to pins instead. Worth giving it a bit of thought before choosing something (here are some other lessons I learned along the way).

@manton It can be fun to create a little tradition, especially when you wrap up. For my national park units quest, I held up a sign with what park number it was for me (but didnā€™t think to do that until park 258 šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø).

@AdamChandler Video can be useful for some podcasts. Just last night, I watched a subscriber-only video podcast analyzing my fav teamā€™s last football game. Interspersed with the commentary were video clips to illustrate some of the discussion points. Definitely more useful than audio-only.

We stopped by the Sunbeam Dam site, which I believe is the first dam explicitly breached/removed to help native fish migration. (Itā€™s a little hard to see, but the back third of the dam is missing, allowing the river flow freely on by.)

We marked off Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS for Jen yesterday. Itā€™s definitely among my ā€œbottom 20ā€ NPS units, but was glad she could finally get it done.
