My default interaction policy for replies is exactly what you say:
Anyone can like, anyone can boost, however to reply either I follow you, or you follow me, in which case replies are automatic, or else I manually approve the reply.
You can configure the reply policy as a default for all posts, and then you can even (if the software supports it) do interaction policies for specific posts. Like if you want to disallow all replies, for instance.

FIRES allows for advisories against Fediverse actors, as well.
This is very, very similar to 'composeable moderation'. You subscribe to a dataset, and you can either grab the latest snapshot or subscribe and pull changes over time, so a retractions come in you can have things pulled off your blocklist.
It also adds a bit more nuance. Things start out as advisories and can escalate to recommendations, but even a recommendation of 'drop' doesn't mean autoblock, it's supposed to be a suggestion to your software (Mastodon, etc) to give you an option or to allow you to auto-accept. You might not care about things tagged with a label of 'Spam' so you let those through, for instance.
This is essentially the protocol the Fediverse has needed to allow for sharing nuanced moderation recommendations. All you need to do is find a dataset or datasets you want to subscribe to, and can pull in those changes.
This is all based on the work done by Em, the FIRES server I'm hosting is her reference server implementation, I'm just sideloading it from Pelago.
Everyone is free to use my fires.1sland.social server as a real FIRES server for development purposes, in terms of testing the protocol.
No retractions yet, but those will show up over time.

And the thing about the Mastodon archive is that you don't have any posts in it you didn't write. Sure, you have replies to posts in a thread you created, maybe, or orphaned replies to other people's threads, but it's not like you can pull an export that includes other people's posts, too.
So keeping actual post references intact rather than merely copying over the content of original posts so that they aren't lost, and replacing all existing references to that post to a copy of it on other new instances....that's a big difference.
If we just go with the Mastodon archive as our source of preserving posts, we don't have the source data to recreate the thread in the first place, just the original posts from the author.
With such fragmented data, you can see why we often throw orphaned mentions away (as I do with Posty) or Slurp refuses to include random mentions...
On top of which, including random mentions would trigger a whole wave of notifications for post-dated posts, so Slurp just refuses to import those.

If you chucked your enormous backup at it before and it didn't work, give it another shot. Accepts up to 2GB uploads and should be able to process a lot more of it before hitting a stack overflow.

Didn't matter what kind of pretending we were doing, Knight Rider, He-Man, Superheroes, cops and robbers, whatever it was....
He (she?) always wanted to \"play the girl.\" Which was great for me, since I got to be He-Man. (Actually, I got to be Cringer/Battlecat, and had to walk on all fours while a child three years older than me rode on my back.) But about my friend? No one ever really objected or even knew enough to ask questions about it. He had coloring book pictures on his wall.... of women, almost 50s era in their styling, but doing housework, in various dresses and he'd always ask me, \"Don't you think she's pretty?\" I thought it was strange, but I didn't know how to talk about it, so I didn't. I put that away for a really, really long time and only recently pulled it out of the box to examine it again.
And was like, \"Holy shit, same memory but completely different context now!\"
I think some of the kids thought it was a bit odd, too, but you know for all my memories of it, I can't remember a single time anyone really said anything about it. And I'm glad about that. I have memories of taking part in bullying that I'm not proud of.... but at least never that kind.
Also, I'm not intending to misgender them now, but I have a strong feeling that they now go by 'she' and if she does, I'm really happy for her.
The world was not ready for her then...and I'm not sure it's ready for her now, but at least she is not alone.
