I see a lot of devs get very defensive with the “we’re not going anywhere” attitude. Lock in and silos don’t lead to user satisfaction, open protocols and APIs do. No service can be all things to all people. Let the user use what they like, and make it easy to move in and out. My new years resolution is to ditch all services I can’t get my data out of. I was hoping for some more explanation on the “Mastodon-compatible” part. I think what the takeaway here is that if you only want to syndicate or push content to Mastodon, micro.blog’s implementation is everything you could want. But if we want do more, we should maintain a presence on a Mastodon server also. Is that accurate?
